It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter to all of you that have supported over the last year but the time has come for Imagination Shoppe to end. Next Friday, September 17th of 2010 will be the last day that we are open to the public.

Why oh Why must we go!?!

You could say we failed a few saving throws or that our RAID wiped but in truth, it’s not that simple. There are many business reasons that led us to this end. People will talk about what they are over the next year, claim to know the secret behind it all but we are content to leave it just at this:

“In a surprise attack, a horde of zombies overran the defenses of Imagination Shoppe leading to its eventual demise. “

Sounds like a fair business reason. Where’s Abe when you need him J

So in the little time we have left, we encourage you to come in and play as much as you can … get it out of your system now, because we won’t be here for long. We will also be posting a list of equipment items that will be for sale including computers and such soon. Maybe you can take a piece of Imagination Shoppe with you so that you can show your kids.

We’ll miss all of you that helped make this gaming community so fun … each of you that has contributed knows who you are. We have watched many new friends be made here at the Shoppe. We have witnessed many games played … and a LOT of laughter has emanated throughout this building.

Imagination Shoppe in partnership with iGames is proud to host, along with our online tournament partner CEVO, the StarCraft II - Killer Launch Detected Tournament, sponsored by Bigfoot Networks and Alienware.

 

Gamers will compete at Imagination Shoppe against players located at other LAN centers across the United States and Canada. The top 4 players will advance to the Championships on Saturday, October 9th to play alongside online teams for a chance to win a share of $1,629.99 worth of cash and prizes.

 

Format

StarCraft II (PC), 1 vs. 1, Faster

Schedule

Gamer Registration: August 8 - September 5

Register at http://www.alienwarearena.com/

Each Wednesday evening during the LAN Preliminary Phase, players must show up at Imagination Shoppe by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. They will be assigned three matches to play that night, between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Pacific Time.

Match 1 - 3: Wednesday, September 8
Match 3 - 6: Wednesday, September 15
Match 7 - 9: Wednesday, September 22
Match 10 - 12: Wednesday, September 29

The top 4 players from the LAN Preliminary will advance to the Playoffs to compete in a subsequent 16 slot double-elimination bracket (alongside the top 12 teams from the online division). These matches will be played entirely on Saturday, October 9th starting at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. 

Matchmaking

Matchmaking and score reporting will be handled directly through the Alienware Arena website and by iGames and CEVO staff.


Prizes

The top 16 overall placing teams from the Playoffs (including 4 from the LAN Preliminary) will split $1,629.99 worth of cash and prizes. 

1st: $500.00 + Killer 2100 Gaming Network Card (ARV: $129.99 USD)
2nd: $250.00
3rd: $150.00 
4th: $100.00
5th-8th: $75.00
9th-16th: $25.00

Fees

The $15 Entry Fee covers your entrance to the tournament and your time playing your games on Wednesdays as well as the Finals.
